homestead babies / chickens ducks & turkeys

Getting ready for our little homestead!

2 of the lovely young lady chickens.

2 of the darling lil duckies!

This is our male turkey.

We got a trio of turkeys, a tom and two ladies. It should be easier to resist naming him Tommy, I will resist! I am very interested to watch these turkeys grow and become our friends. We have high hopes that they will aide us in insect control in our garden and I keep reading what great pets they make.

The ducks are so cute! We fill a giant bowl and watch them swim in the sunshine everyday. They are just darling and the youngest out of all these birds.

The chickens are very present and make eye contact! I look forward to loving them and collecting their eggs. Raising these babies is going to be so rewarding and fun!

birdwatching in our courtyard - wood warbler

I am so looking forward to all the incredible birds I will see while I live in Central America. The first bird I saw here that really caught my attention is this little yellow wood warbler. I was so amazed the first morning he was flitting all around our courtyard and much to my surprise and pleasure, I see this little dude almost every day now.

a walk around my block

Sometimes a very simple walk around the block you live on can be so inspiring (espcially with camera in hand) and pretty relaxing. On this day as we stepped outside there was a flock of birds fluttering by. Leisurely walks are one of the healthiest things you can do!!!

The block we live on is split by an alley, as are all of the blocks in the neighbourhood. Mike & I walk the alleys more than the streets. This is the alley right behind our casita and the start of all our walks. The red fence is ours.

Beautiful citrus! I hope our recent cold weather didn't hurt the fruits!

One very gorgeous set of mouldy coloured stairs.

Meg of Nest's Nest.

Just a super quick peak at one wall in Meg's more than delightful home!

I had the pleasure of visiting with the Coles the beginning of Dec. It's always fun to see what Meg has done with their Nest, I don't think things stay the same very much in that household (as far as decor goes...it's eye candy galoure!) This wall was above their dining room table. It is simple as can be but, freaking great!!! Just love it!

An inspiring corner for me.

This is a wee corner in what I call my cozy room. I find it to be simply inspiring. The mushrooms were collected on a trip to Portland, Or. The Peacock ring holder and white ceramic (I have a serious thing for white ceramic pieces lately.) woodpecker were collected on a recent trip to Charlotte, NC. And the fantastic mushroom coaster was a birthday gift from the ever so lovely Lane!
